Non Vintage Rose Champagne

Rosé Champagne or Pink Champagne as it is also known, from the palest of pink to the darkest of red, has undergone a meteoric rise in popularity in the last couple of years. As all champagne grapes are white on the inside, there are two methods in which the champagne gains its pink hue. One during the traditional method of maceration, after pressing of the grapes contact with the pinot noir or pinot meunier grape skins imparts pigmentation, this is now used by the minority of houses. The other method most commonly practiced now is the addition of between 8-20% still red wine, these are a blended rosé.

Pink champagnes using the Maceration process may have a more aroma of strawberries or raspberries as these aromas originate mainly from the skins of Pinot Noir grape.
