The McRae Wood Shiraz honours the vision of pioneer Clare Valley winemaker Jim Barry.
 
In 1964 Jim purchased 70 acres of prime land from Duncan McRae Wood and planted his first vineyard with Shiraz.
 
On sight this shiraz is crimson in colour, almost inky. It’s a charismatic and robust red wine, a bowl of fruit with Raspberry, blackcurrant, plum all showing. Supporting complexity - tar, asphalt, liquorice, oregano and lavender. McRae Wood Shiraz is unreserved in its flamboyancy, with blueberry, tobacco, nutmeg and cranberry ending with coriander, sage, vanilla pods and cinnamon.
 
A fine wine to be enjoyed on release but also one that will benefit from cellaring.
